Santiago is a metropolitan city and it’s climate is very similar to Los Angeles. We spent total of three nights in Santiago, including the final layover going back to NYC. Both time, we stayed with Carasur Charming Hotel, which is one of the highlights of our South America trip.

TIPS:
Santiago in general is a quite safe city, with a very developed metro system, which makes it very easy to go around places. One thing to watch out is when you get out the airport, make sure to avoid taking private taxis. They ask for more than what a legal taxi and an uber will charge you.

We LOVED the expansive breakfast. It is by far the best breakfast we had during our South America trip. Every morning we are served with fruit, fresh juice, yogurt with granola, French crepe with camomile spread (Fundo Playa Venado, made in Chile), delicious eggs ( omelet or scrambled), and coffee.
Being #1 rated on trip advisory,
Carasur Charming Hotel well servers its reputation. Super host, Eduardo and his wife Catalina restored this historical house in the little Italy neighborhood of Santiago two years ago and opened up this boutique hotel. Total of 5 rooms, including one loft, give this place a charming and warm feel. The hotel has a beautiful patio surrounded with many plants. We LOVED the expansive breakfast. The room is spacious and clean, with a very smart design. It is these small detail that makes this place special. We will find your name on the welcome blackboard in the lobby and welcome sign before entering our room. We were greeted “welcome back” the second time we stayed.
When on vacation, most people don’t stay at the same hotel twice. Our second time stay with Carasur Charming Hotel is just as charming as the first time. Eduardo and Catalina, it was great to meet you both and we love your place!
